Close-up portrait of Lauren Wunderlich aka Wunderco

Lauren Wunderlich is a strategic design leader and the Head of UX for the Gemini System Experience at Google DeepMind. She thrives on steering teams through ambiguity and defining new design paradigms at the forefront of technology. With a career spanning over two decades, she has consistently built, scaled, and led high-performing product design organizations.

Her current focus is shaping the future of human-AI interaction for Google’s most critical AI initiatives, including Gemini’s cross-platform applications and novel response frameworks. This work builds on a decade of experience leading systemic design across Google’s most challenging ecosystems.

Prior to AI, Lauren defined the user experience for Google’s ambient computing efforts. As the UX Manager for Assistant at Home, she directed multidisciplinary teams to orchestrate cohesive experiences across Smart Displays, Speakers, Google TV, and the Pixel Tablet. Earlier, as the UX Manager for Android Auto, she spearheaded a major projected experience redesign that raised its Play Store rating and led the pioneering partnership with Volvo for the first embedded Android Automotive vehicle.

Lauren’s leadership is founded on a people-first approach. She cultivates resilient, authentic, and collaborative environments, consistently achieving high manager scores in "Develop People" and "Build Community". She empowers designers by adapting her coaching to individual strengths, fostering trust, and creating a culture of psychological safety that enables teams to tackle the industry’s most complex challenges
